Mary's Ferret Blog

OK. This blog is now on www.modernferretblog.com. So I can go from here.

Eric uploaded a couple of essays I'd written to the shefferman.com site. You can go look at them. One is about how I quit smoking about eight and a half years ago, the other is about a fire on my Dad's boat when I was a kid.

If I haven't mentioned it yet, you should check out the ferret T-shirt designs at www.ferretdesigns.com. It's a neat new thing we're doing. Go buy something. :o)

Hello. Is this working??

We've decided to move this from the blogger site to our own site (url). It seems to have finally worked.

I’m waiting for the stove guy to come fix the stove. It’s 9:30 AM -- not an hour that usually sees me awake.

Tonight we’re going to Book Revue in Huntington for a book signing by Bruce Campbell. The book is called If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor. Some of you might recognize Bruce as Autolycus from Hercules & Xena; some from The Evil Dead movies; some won’t recognize him at all. Eric and I enjoy his work (well, not the scary movies -- we don’t watch those) and admire how he makes information about his upcoming projects and personal appearances available on his web site. It makes it easy for fans to be fans. Yes, it helps him promote himself and make money. But you can’t begrudge the guy a living. He works hard to entertain people. If you’re interested, you can check out Bruce Campbell's web site.

We put our old car back on the road. My old car. It’s a Volkswagen Fox named Rosebud (she’s red). The car hasn’t been driven in years. But in Woody Allen’s Sleeper-style, the old girl started up on the first try once we got a new battery in her. If anyone has suggestions on getting out that old-car-sitting-all-closed-up smell, I’d love to hear them. E-mail me.

We’ve been stuffing envelopes for the renewal series and have ended up with a bunch of empty envelope boxes, which the ferrets are enjoying immensely. Eric taped one closed and cut a square opening so the ferrets can go inside. They can play jack in the box and pop goes the weasel. I love when we give the ferrets something new to play with and they really enjoy it.

The litter box training book is almost finished (later than expected). Between running into New York City to help support legalization efforts (BTW the bill died -- they were 4 votes short of a veto override) and trying to put together things for the next issue (with best-selling author Tama Janowitz on the cover photographed by Todd Oldham), we got a little behind. But the book is shaping up beautifully. If you ordered it, you’ll be getting a postcard soon letting you know what the new projected shipping date is.

The stove guy is here.

I figured out how to put a link there (on the left).

I'm starting this new journal because I never get a chance to update the one at shefferman.com. I rarely get to use that computer anymore, so ... I've started this journal here. It's supposed to be much easier in that I'll be able to update it from any computer because it's web based. I just have to figure out how to put an easy-access link back to the Modern Ferret site.
