Pink Day

Yesterday was a good day for pink. Eric and I went out to our PO Box to pick up mail and decided to hit the mall out there (JC Penney's is having a big clearance thing).

First stop was Hot Topic where they actually had the Special Effects Cupcake Pink hair dye I like! A little too pricey, but I'm worth it. I'll be re-pinking my hair after my workout later today.

Next stop was JC Penney's. I found some nice pink pants that fit me perfectly. I believe I'm officially a size 6 again (down from the 8/10 of the winter). I'll have to talk about the Velocity Diet in another post -- but I'll say I've lost nearly 5% body fat since I've been on it.

Eric went upstairs to look at belts while I continued to cruise the ladies clothing. I wandered through the jeans and found nothing in the right size. Then I made my way over to the coats. I spotted some nice leather jackets, sort of a gray/silver type color. Then it hit me: One hot pink leather jacket. It was a beacon.

I can't afford a leather jacket, but I had to look at this lone pink leather blazer. It was on clearance for $29.99. I could almost afford that just because it was such a good deal. The jacket was an extra small. I'm small, but I'm not that small. But I tried it on anyway because -- well -- it was pink!

It fit. I guess because it's a ladies' XS and not a juniors' XS it was actually exactly my size.

What a dilemma I now faced. I grabbed the jacket and went looking for Eric. Of course he agreed that it was a good deal and we should get the jacket.

But that's not the good part.

We got to the register and the jacket rang up at full price! $150.00. I pointed out that the tag read $29.99. The clerk fiddled with the cash register. The final cost of the pink leather jacket? $14.99.

Yeah. It was a good day.

Record Temperatures

Yesterday was a record-setting day here on Long Island. The "official" temperature at Laguardia Airport was 100 degrees. It beat the old record high of 96 degrees from 1988. Is it any wonder I'm wilting?

I've been walking a lot to lose weight. It works! I never thought something this easy could be effective. I've lost about 8 pounds, 6 of which was fat. Yeah, my body fat percentage has dropped about 4 percentage points. I have another 5% or so to go, but I'll do it. Eventually I'll put up before and after pictures. Not yet. But soon.

Now I'll go. I've got to go walking before the thunderstorms hit here. August on Long Island is hell.

Happy Birthday!

To my mom. She would have been ... what? 70. I hope she's having cake and ice cream in heaven.
