Owww!

My shoulder still hurts. I know, I have to stop thinking about it. "What you focus on expands." I'm starting to wonder if this is a fibromyalgia flare up and not just a muscle pull. Not that I treat the two any differently. What I've got now is this burning sensation on my shoulder blade -- well, actually, it's at the top of my shoulder. It smarts. That's all I'll say.

Squirrels

I'm a little loath to look in the attic at the trap. I'm afraid I'll find the peanut butter gone and the trap un-tripped. If that's the case, there's only one thing that can do that: a ghost squirrel. They're the hardest to get rid of. You can't trap them. You can't block off holes to keep them out (they're ghosts! they go through solid walls!). Ugh. I guess I should actually look. ... Ok. No squirrel and the peanut butter is untouched (thank God!). I'm still concerned, because there was obviously something in the attic yesterday that ate all the walnuts.

Snow

The snow has come. I don't know how deep it is, maybe six inches. It doesn't look bad. Alan didn't come over with the snowblower, so I guess I get to shovel today. That ought to put my shoulder completely out of comission. Yay! Not.

Time to start my day.

... Apparently Not ...

Seems the squirrel(s) has/have outsmarted us again! I went to check the trap and all the bait was gone and the trap was not tripped. Grrrr! I've set it again and I'm waiting to hear us catch the little bastard(s). Here I was celebrating freedom from squirrels and I was deluded. Mark my words: We will get all the little varmints out of the attic!

Whew!

I think we finally got the squirrels out of the attic. The trap is quiet this morning.

Let me explain.

We had a huge hole in the side of the house under the eaves. It was the size of a grapefruit. Squirrels were in there. We tried playing music to get them to leave. We got electric pest repeller things (they make an unpleasant-for-pests sound). They stayed. We boarded up the hole, they made another. We put a metal sheet over the hole and stuck a live trap in the attic, baited with peanut butter (chunky). Caught one. Spirited him/her away to a nice park. Caught a second one. Spirited him/her away to the same nice park. Now the trap is unsprung in the attic. If there was a squirrel in there, he/she would be in the trap, but all is silent in the attic. Thank God.

Actually, thank Alan, Eric's stepdad. He's the one who sealed up the hole, borrowed the live trap, and spirited away the squirrels. He's been an enormous help. He'll be happy to hear the squirrels are gone.

Ouchies!

I slept wrong the other night and have been paying for it ever since. My neck and right shoulder are killing me. Typing and mousing are difficult and painful. So is driving (I can't turn my head very well). But I am a trooper and I will go get food in the house so we don't starve when the snow hits tonight.

Snow

I like snow, but ever since our Rodeo died, it's no fun to drive in it. Now I'm driving a Lincoln Town Car (thanks Uncle Sonny!) and it doesn't handle snow well. I have to rush out before the snow and pick up all my necessities. That means that today I'm driving all over the place getting food, prescriptions, and ferret litter. It could be worse. I could have squirrels in my attic.

That's about all for now. I have to start my day.

Moving On

It's Sunday again. Seems to happen every week. I finished editing the fitness book I was working on and sent it back to the author. My next projects are web stuff. I have three different web sites I'm putting together. It's nice to be able to do several different types of work: writing, designing web sites, editing, and designing t-shirts. Variety is a good thing. It keeps me from stagnating.

Stagnation is one of the most terrible things you can let happen to yourself. Don't do it! If you're not growing, you're dying. The more different things I do, the more I realize that I can do many different things. It gives me energy and power over my world and self. Focus on the positive; focus on your accomplishments.

TV

Today is Sunday again. It's a day to put myself together and finish up trailing tasks. It's also the day that Charmed is on. ;o) I realized today that I watch far too much TV. As I focus on doing things, TV gets in the way. But it's hard to let go of habits. I can only hope that more of my favorite shows get cancelled or finish their runs (like NYPD: Blue). Tonight, for example, I have three hours of TV that I usually watch. Three hours! Do you know how much a person can accomplish in three hours? At least now I try to do some task while I'm watching TV: sewing, my nails, straightening up. I get up and do things during commercials.

So what am I watching tonight? Enterprise (being cancelled at the end of this season), Charmed, and the first season of CSI: Miami on A&E (self-limiting, because I saw all of the second season). Eventually, I'll be down to only one hour of TV on Sunday night. It's still probably one hour too much.

So now I go to start my day. Time for breakfast and a little personal journalling. Then I'm off to do some of the work I need to do (including a FerretNews newsletter).

Car Wash!

I haven't had a car washed at a car wash in years. Today I did. The BAL (big-ass Lincoln) is now very shiny! I'm glad to have gotten all the salt and road debris off of it. Now I just have to clean up the inside.

Transformation!

In my last post, I mentioned that Eric and I were going to Brooklyn for a three-day seminar with T. Harv Eker. Well, that's what we did. WOW! I'll have to get into some of the details later, but suffice it to say that I'm a different person -- in a good way. Check my post from the other day to find a link to Harv Eker's web site.

Soon you'll be able to experience some of what I did because Harv has a book coming out on February 15. Although it's called Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, it is about far more than making money. It's really some amazing stuff. You can buy the book at Amazon:

That's about it for now. More tomorrow!
